Putt-Putt Enters The Race Review

Putt-Putt Enters The Race

My 3 year old son loves Putt Putt! He gets such a great feeling of accomplishment when he does all that he needs to do to get into the race! I like it because the goal is not a competitive one where you have to "WIN" or "LOSE". It's more of a goal of getting the tools he needs to complete a certain job. It keeps him occupied for about an hour, which also gives me great opportunities to do housework, etc. without feeling like I'm robbing him of the chance to do something he enjoys! Also, it allows him to use his own creativity & problem solving skills, because he has to figure out how to get some of the items on the list. The greatest thing, though, is when he gets all the items & then goes to the race, he runs around the house laughing & saying "Number 1" because he's so proud of himeself!

This is one of the coolest games you will ever play. It's like a board game but everywhere you land there's a different game. Lots of the games are freak out scary like the movie. You have to fix a fence before a raptor catches up and kills you! You have to sneak past a T-rex and if you don't make it you get eaten alive! The dinosaurs are totally realistic. And the dueling dinosaurs game RULES!

Dino Island (Jewel Case) Review

Dino Island (Jewel Case)
Average Reviews:

In Dino Island you get the chance to design your own dinosaur theme park.
There are 20 species of dinosaur available - but the best feature of all is that you can cross breed these to make your very own species! Cross a T Rex with a Stegosaurus and you will get a strange new type of dinosaur. Then you can cross this one again... and you can keep going. The possibilities are endless.
You can also zap your dinosaurs with various types of rays to change their shape and appearance.
As you would expect with any theme park sim, there are also various types of shops and attractions to put in your park to entertain the guests with.
I was pretty impressed with the graphics. It is fully 3D and you can zoom right in and out, and rotate all the way around, so you can see your park from any angle.
Overall, this is a fun management game, and it's definitely worth checking out if you like these type of games. Plus the cross-breeding bit is great fun!

Typing Pal 3.0 Review

Typing Pal 3.0

I have been using many typing software over the past years, either with kids or adults; I work in a library. This one has really impressed me with its powerful options and features and its fun, original and easy approach. The Spy feature is *very* original. The Dictations module is practical. One of the games is very creative (the Boss), the other could have been better. I would really recommend this product to anyone who wants to learn typing while having fun, no matter your age. I recently ordered the Junior version for the library. I will keep you posted.

Learn keyboard typing with Typing Pal 3.0. The software offers a fully customized learning scenario that suits beginners along with people who have more keyboard experience. The user decides which sections of the keyboard to learn and sets his or her own speed and precision objectives. The program contains 80 exercises in all, in addition to 20 oral dictations and two games, to help make learning more fun.
Typing Pal 3.0 also features an accelerated course so users can become a keyboard pro in no time. Take advantage of specialized courses that will help you navigate on the Internet with ease and become more efficient with e-mail and chat lines. And if you need to use Spanish at work, Typing Pal offers a variety of practice material in Spanish.
The lessons are accompanied by cartoon sequences to help keep your attention on the screen, rather than on the keyboard. For those who want to keep track of their progress, Typing Pal offers to evaluate user performance with simple and detailed statistics. The software applies these statistics to come up with specially designed exercises that will help users improve on weak points.

Robot Arena: Design and Destroy Review

Robot Arena: Design and Destroy

I have been an avid viewer of such shows as Battlebots, Robot Wars, and Robotica for the past few years. I have researched the sport, and know enough that I could build a robot if I had enough money to do so. I was one of the first to buy Robot Arena 1 almost two years ago. That game was not so great. I bought RA1 because I wanted to experience building and fighting robots. Once I played it, I realized it was not going to be what I expected. Robot Arena 2 though, is a whole different story. This game is simply amazing. The botlab is as close to real life as you can get. You start off drawing a base plate for your chassis, then extrude it and change the shape. Once done with that, you can add motors, batteries, or whatever you want. Unlike other robot games where you simply click how many motors you want, in this one you can place them anywhere in the chassis. You can raise them, rotate them, or stick them outside the chassis on extenders, whatever you want. Once you have mobility down, why not add a weapon? No pre-defined weapon spots here, you can put them wherever and however you want. Want a hammer? Get a burst motor, stick an arm on it, with a hammer at the end. Want a disc? Put in a z-tek motor with a disc component on it with some weapons at the ends, and you're done. There are endless possibilities, and that's not all. Once you wire it up how you want, you can go fight it. The game play is stunning. The chassis can deform, and parts can go flying off. They don't just disappear once they come off either, they become actual physics objects that you can get high centered on as in real life. When you chop an opponent's wheel off, or when a spinner's hammer goes flying causing it to go off balance and pull a "mauler," it really gets your heart pumping. Online play requires a high speed modem, but unlike RA1, you don't need IP addresses anymore. Just create a game and wait, or tell your friend to join and use a password. The game has so many features, I could not possibly put them all here. I haven't even mentioned the chassis painting, the possibility for walking robots, the large amount of original AI robots, or the in-game tourney system. All I can say is get this game now, you won't regret it ;-)

Disney's Adventures in Typing with Timon & Pumbaa Review

Disney's Adventures in Typing with Timon and Pumbaa

This is not one of those cutesy titles that only pretends to be about education. This is an extremely well-designed, well-thought-out program that effectively teaches typing (i.e., keyboarding). Anything even remotely associated with The Lion King may trigger the gag reflex in survivors of the whole Lion King blitzkrieg, but rest assured: Timon and Pumba do not have center stage here; the lessons do. Never sacrificing the functional for the cute or gimmicky, this program is structured, yet adaptive, and uses a gradual progression of exercises to provide just the right degree of challenge as the user progresses. In other words, the program captivates by providing variation (to keep things from getting dull) and by making the goal seem easy while maintaining just the right level of difficulty. Both my wife and nine-year-old were instantly hooked and have progressed dramatically. I do have a few minor complaints (for example, icons for navigating through the program could be more intuitive or--Heaven forbid--identified with actual words), but overall, this is a finely crafted tool that condenses a one-semester high school typing class (of yore) onto a single CD-ROM--but without the boring teacher.

Puppy Luv Adventures Review

Puppy Luv Adventures

Hello!
I like puppy luv adventures but there are many gliches. One of them is that when i try to have my puppy take a nap, it just walks in place and does not sleep and the game does not count it as rest! So my poor, cute little puppys are always tired. I have never tried the other puppy luvs so i do not know if that is a glich in all of them. also when you log out and come back in, the computer forgets what puppy you had so you have to make a new one. another thing i don't like is that you can only have 5 or 10(i forget the number) accounts and you get 1 puppy on each account. Also everytime the computer forgets your puppy and you have to make a new one, it forgets all the items you had and all the money you earned. if i say so myself i do not think thee games are very fun. On the picture it shows a yellow lab with a bow on it but you can not put anything on your pet. the dogs are constantly hungry and thirsty too. so once my puppys get tired i have to delete them and start all over. when you take it on a walk all you do is sit there and the puppy walks and does it's you-know-what.but one of the funny things is that you get to make funny fur on you dog when you choose the breed and the shade of its fur. i give this game 2 stars.

Read, Write & Type Review

Read, Write and Type
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Children learn to type by sound from individual letter sounds to sentences in this program, formerly "Talking Fingers." Read, Write, and Type does very well correlating sounds to letter keys with the help of left and right hand animations that guide the finger and hand placement.
Plan on sitting with your child if you want them to learn to type correctly. The program could have had a few more audio prompts for the typing aspect of the program, such as looking at the screen while finding keys with their fingers, especially when the excercises go from typing one letter to short sentences. You'll need to remind them to relax the hands while over the keyboard to help them reach for the keys and develop dexterity. Another common mistake is that the child presses too slowly, which makes the key repeat many times on a computer, and then shows up as an error, making them repeat the exercise. This IS a program that some children are not ready for, and it can also be frustrating if the child doesn't succeed in the excercises, as they will not be able to move on to the next story. Kids will naturally want to advance in the program's storyline, a catchy chase to earn back (doing typing exercises) all of the storytellers who occupy the keys, stolen by Vexor the Virus, and they will often need someone right there to remind them to "power up!" This is the kind of video game parents of 6-8 year olds WANT their child to play!

Princess Royal Horse Show Review

Princess Royal Horse Show

I bought this game at wal-mart expecting something so fun and it turned out to be so dumb, on the cover it says "Decorate and Ride the Horse of you Dreams!" yeah right it only give you 6 different horses to choose from and a 8 different designs that you decorate the horse with(you can mix/and match them). The only Disney princess that sounds like her self is bella and snow white's voice is SO ANNOYING. When you ride the horse it is so easy and dumb because a bird tweets when you should press the space bar. When you first start there is (i think) ten ribbons you choose which color you want(it doesn't matter which one)to start the thing about it is that you don't remember which one you where playing with so you to check each one so annoying. The only good thing about this game is that my 6 year old brother likes it and my sister who has down syndrome absoluty loves it. She plays it as much as possible. I have to help her a little bit with the riding but other than that she does it her self. She loves cinderella but the only time she(cinderella) is on is the beginning.

Jewel Quest Review

Jewel Quest
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently started playing several computer games, and this one was recommended to me by a friend - she said it could be addicting, and I must say that she was right!
I have been playing Jewel Quest on and off for several months now, and it seems as if the levels will never end. I think this is a good thing, because once you solve a game, you usually don't play it again. Because of the sheer # of levels, this game can provide many, many hours of enjoyment (or frustration....)
One of the great features of this game is that you are never made to start all over again - You keep working on the same board until you conquer it. After you've attempted the same board several times without beating it, you are given the option to just skip that particular level, and move on. I personally never choose that option, but I like to know that the option is available if I get too frustrated with the difficulty of a particular section.
The goal of Jewel Quest is to match various items - you must match at least 3 of the same item in a row or colum. By doing this, you turn the "sand" tiles to "gold", and you must get the entire grid gold within a specific period of time. It may sound easy, but as you move along the levels, it actually gets quite difficult.
Overall, I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys matching games where there is increasing levels of difficulty. My thought is that it's probably more appropriate for adults as opposed to children.

I bought this game (with my own money mind you) thinking it would be something like zoo tycoon or Nintendogs;build a pet hotel, take care of pets, fun mini games YAY! I was SEVERELY disappointed. Your basically the mayor of this town for pets and you play various mini games to get food for your citizens and increase population. The first few levels were mildly entertaining, but the fourth level where you have to get a train to your city by jumping over logs and ducking under Stick things is literally IMPOSSIBLE to beat. Its not just because I'm bad at it but it is literally impossible. When you jump over logs you fall VERY slowly back down to Earth, and theres no way to hit ground faster, so when theres a stick you need to duck under after jumping the log, you ALWAYS fall on top of it and crash. Maybe the rest of the game is fun, I don't know because you cant make it past the fourth level. DO NOT BUY! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
