This is one of the coolest games you will ever play. It's like a board game but everywhere you land there's a different game. Lots of the games are freak out scary like the movie. You have to fix a fence before a raptor catches up and kills you! You have to sneak past a T-rex and if you don't make it you get eaten alive! The dinosaurs are totally realistic. And the dueling dinosaurs game RULES!

Neighbors from Hell Review

Neighbors from Hell
Average Reviews:

I got this game at EB Games thinking it was going to be awful. I started playing it, and I actually liked it! The basic idea is that you are on a reality TV show, where the goal is to make your neighbor as mad as possible. In order to do that, you play tricks on him - like drawing all over his mom's portrait with a black marker, cutting his favorite chair in half, switching out his hard candy with bath beads, etc. When he finds out, he gets super mad! And if you manage to pull several tricks in a row, you get extra points. If you get caught, he beats you up pretty bad. :D
The game runs well, I never had any issues when I was installing or playing it. The only thing I didn't like about the game is that I beat it about 2 1/2 hours. There are only about a dozen scenarios to do, and each has a timer of about 5 minutes. Also, I would have liked to see more variety in tricks - by the last few scenarios I knew every single trick and it was just a matter of strategizing on what order I wanted to pull them off in to get the maximum amount of points.
Overall - decent game, but way too short. :)

Brother Bear Review

Brother Bear
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Not having seen the movie, I can't comment on screen-to-PC authenticity, but KnowWonder's Brother Bear game is an entertaining romp through a variety of gorgeous, interactive environments (Aspen forest, Valley of Fire, Salmon Run and more) on Kenai's quest to become human again. The game is narrated by Rutt and Tuke, aka the SCTV McKenzie Brothers of moose (voiced by hosers Dave Thomas and Rick Moranis, eh?), who explain the rough idea of Brother Bear: brothers Sitka, Denahi, and Kenai live in the Ice Age Pacific Northwest. When eldest brother Sitka is killed by a grizzly while protecting Kenai, Kenai tracks down the bear and kills it against the advice of the shaman. As punishment, he is transformed into a bear and must escape Denahi, who is now hunting him. Kenai befriends Koda, an orphaned grizzly cub, who helps him reach the place where the light touches the earth.
The game begins in the Apsen Forest in a training level, where Koda teaches Kenai the bear essentials: how to jump, climb, collect honeycomb to discover secret totems, and collect berries, salmon, and acorns to restore health. Interspersed between levels are arcade-style action games, such as racing to the top of the mountain, the Ice Run, and collecting the most salmon at the Salmon Run. These can be replayed to achieve a better score, or just to enjoy the action again.
Although there are no difficulty levels to choose from , the game increases in difficulty with each level. During each level Kenai must fight and escape Denahi. This is made difficult in the fact that once you enter the fights, there are no health power-ups, and if you die, you start right back out with as much or as little health as you had the first time. The saves are also automatic, and the game freezes up for a good 15-20 seconds every time it saves.
The claim that you can transform into an eagle, wolf or crow is deceiving: these are totems that you use in your quest, but you do not actually transform. The Eagle totem allows Kenai and Koda to fly to otherwise off-limits ledges and across barriers to collect bonus items (the Mystical Pinecone, which gives you an extra heart against the hunter) and to continue the game. The Wolf allows you to jump across super-wide chasms (you only use it once or twice), and the Crow allows you to see hidden objects or paths. There are also three totems that will aid you in your final fight against the Hunter: the Bear, the Sabertooth Tiger, and Golden Salmon. As a bonus, if you collect the six hidden totems, there is a hidden ending.
The 3D graphics are gorgeous: lush forest, snow-covered mountains, raging rapids and waterfalls, and volcanic craters. You can chase rabbits and butterflies for fun, fish for salmon in the river, and avoid grumpy chipmunks when collecting berries. The game did freeze up on my machine in a couple of spots (both in the Valley of Fire), but those were the only glitches I encountered. Brother Bear does require a 3D graphics card and a fair amount of memory to run smoothly (I ran it on an HP Pavillion with 256 MB RAM and an Nvidia TNT 64 MB graphics card).
Overall I feel that the game is too difficult for younger gamers (under six perhaps; the keyboard/mouse controls are rather tricky and very sensitive), but enjoyable for older kids.

My 7-year old autistic daughter loves this game.
We stumbled onto it originally in a "preview", included in some Arthur CD-ROM's, and I went and bought a used copy of the real thing.
She will play for hours, clicking on things and making them interact all over the place. She laughs hysterically sometimes, making the hare stumble through mud etc.

Paws & Claws Pet Vet 2: Healing Hands Review

Paws and Claws Pet Vet 2: Healing Hands
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm writing this review on the strength of my kids' experience playing the version 1 of Pet Vet at a friends house one weekend, and then coming home and installing a one-hour preview of this Version 2 release. My kids liked the Version 1 release (it's just called Pet Vet), but they disliked this Version 2 release (called Pet Vet 2: Healing Hands). Why? Because the mouse action was terribly slow and delayed, unlike any other game I've seen. It's not the hardware -- they're running on a fast 2.6Ghz Pentium 4 laptop with 512MB RAM and plenty of disk space. No other game is slow like this one, and by slow, I mean the mouse action is slow and terribly unresponsive. I can't see anything that would be a set-up issue, so I'm presuming it's just lousy $20 kid software written by an independent developer and marketed by some company called ValuSoft. Because the mouse response was so poor, my kids really didn't like the game, so we're not going to buy it. My advice is simple: try the preview version by downloading from the the Internet (not from the Valusoft website -- strangely, they don't offer the download for Version 2, just Version 1), and if you like, then pull the trigger and buy the game (from Amazon -- it's cheaper than from ValuSoft directly). You might be better off buying the Version 1 release, which is what we're currently pondering.

I got this game and i thought it was ok. It was short, and finnished it in about 2 days. And the mysters, seemed to give you alot to handle at once, so it ended quicklly. But because i own EVERY other horse game out their, even some from japan, i still liked. I judge the games very hard because i have so many. But i would say that you should get this game.

ZOO TYCOON COMPLETE COLLECTION Review

ZOO TYCOON COMPLETE COLLECTION
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is the complete collection of games for the original Zoo Tycoon game, including the Marine Mania and Dinosaur Digs expansions. Basically, the game is exactly what you'd expect... it's a sim/strategy type game where you take the role of a zoo keeper, and build your ideal zoo. With dozens of animals, from African hunting dogs to saltwater crocodiles to Asian black bears, this game should appeal to any wildlife enthusiast. The whole goal of the game is to make sure your animals, and guests, are happy. The former is achieved by placing them in a suitable environment, the later by building animal house (like 'reptile houses,' 'primate houses,' etc), resturants, gift stores and other attractions. You can choose several scenarios, from free form games to pre-made games that require you to achieve certain, increasingly challenging, goals.
The two expansion packs add on animals, attractions and new features appropriate to them. The Marine Mania pack includes all manner of sea creatures - sharks, whales, dolphins, octopi, seals, and so forth, while Dino Digs includes dinosaurs and prehistoric beasts like Allosaurus, Megatherium, Smilodon and Ankylosaurus, amongst others. They also include new attractions, like the pterodactyl house and crustacean house, marina themed buildings, and the like, to get your guests attention. New features include animal shows where dolphins, orcas and sea lions can perform tricks, mixed exhibits that include land and water (for animals like hippos, walruses and sea otters), and electric fences to keep dinosaurs contained. Over all, with all these features and new scenarios any would-be Zoo Keeper will have literally hours, if not days, weeks and months, of game play. Definitely worth it for the money you'd spend on these great games. Love 'em all!

Zoo Tycoon 2 Review

Zoo Tycoon 2
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was going to resist getting Zoo Tycoon 2, having recently being disappointed by the update of Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 (which is NOT an improvement). I am, however, a simulation/strategy game addict--and I am happy to report that I don't regret giving in to the impulse to buy Zoo Tycoon 2.
The original version of this game was not one of my favorites. I found changing little squares of landscape and mending fences rather tedious for long term game play, not to mention only having income from entrance fees and food/drinks keeping my bank account in a permanent decline, and visitors loosing interest in the exhibits too quickly.
WHY THIS VERSION IS BETTER:
* 3D Animation - I tend not to care much about graphics in general, however these graphics are quite well done, and you can zoom in quite close to observe the animals. You can also click on any animal and find out what it's doing at any given moment.
* Photo Safari - In certain scenarios and challenge games, you can earn awards by taking pictures of specific events. Switching to a digital camera style view, you may have to take a snapshot of two animals, or an animal running, etc.
* Interactive Mode - You can switch to guest view, and walk around your park, getting a close-up view. Further, you can play caretaker and clean up after animals (and guests), clean animals and fill food dishes yourself.
* Donations/Income - Guests continue to visit all exhibits as the game progresses, and contribute donations at each exhibit. The more interesting the exhibit, the more they donate (they like biomes: exhibits in which the terrain, plants, rocks and animals are all appropriate to one another).
* Guest/Animal Detail - Similar to Roller Coaster Tycoon, you can view each guest or animal's specific needs, discovering which are fulfilled and which are not. You can also view lists of this information that can be organized by any category (which animals are pregnant, which guests most need a bathroom, etc.)
* Responsive Guests - In the previous versions, guests nearly dying of thirst would walk right by a soda stand complaining. Now they form lines (though they'll whine if the line is too long) or give an opinion ("I want something other than soda.")
* Atmosphere - Part of your score depends on the appearance of your zoo. Guests will get unhappy without fountains, arches and bouncy kangaroo rides to keep them entertained (and you'll get a message if too many of them are dissatisfied).
* Zoo Rating/Progress - As your zoo improves, so does your rating, unlocking more objects and animals.
* Exhibit Design - As with the previous version, you paint exhibits with appropriate terrain and fill them with the right vegetation for the animal. However, you paint in broad strokes, rather than micromanaging every square. Also, you don't pay for the change of terrain, which keeps the costs of building an exhibit much more manageable.
* Gifts to Wear - There's a different gift for each animal, and guests will buy those relating to animals they've seen in your zoo. You might see them walking around with moose antlers on their heads or peacock backpacks.
* No Broken Fences: The fences no longer deteriorate, so animals only escape if you use the wrong kind of fence, and predators will not kill other animals. Guests will still flee from escaped animals, however.
*Animal Adoption: No longer can you purchase unlimited flamingoes or tigers. A limited number and variety of animals are available at a time, the higher your zoo rating, the more species available and the more options you have. You can choose to pass on adopting a species, and it will be replaced by a random other species after some time that isn't already an option (but each level only makes certain species available, you need to earn 5 stars to get the rarest animals).
* Specified Research: Rather than having to research several things you don't want to get the one you do, you can choose the specific object you want to research next for a set fee. Objects available for research expand with your zoo rating.
WHAT IT LACKS:
* Number of Scenarios: I've had the game less than a week, and have already beaten most of the campaign scenarios. However, there are many challenge games still to be played. No doubt an expansion pack is already in the works to fix this.
* Number of Animals: There are only 30 different animals, mostly the same as those found in the previous version. However, there is a wide variety: for instance you have one species of tiger, one of elephant, etc. I imagine there will be an expansion pack to supplement this, too.
* Limited Initial Animal Choice: You always start out with the same three (Moose, Peacock and Camel) and need to establish them before more are made available, which gets a bit tiresome when you play a number of scenarios.
BOTTOM LINE: A family-friendly game, I'd say this is one of the best simulation games of 2004 (and I've played a lot of them). Easy enough for kids to play, but entertaining enough for adults. If you're a fan of Rollercoaster Tycoon or SimCity, this is an excellent choice.

This is an amazing game in which the player gets to create their own ecosystem. They must learn to balance life (for example, make sure there are enough zebras for the lions to eat but also enough so they can breed and increase herd size) while making sure each animal's requirements for food and water are met. Wildlife Tycoon is a great simulation game and will keep anybody who loves animals interested and excited while also making them think. This game is a must buy for any animal lover!

Zoo Tycoon Complete Collection Review

Zoo Tycoon Complete Collection
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Zoo Tycoon Complete Collection is the video game my daughter was waiting for.
A quick overview: In the original Zoo Tycoon, you are in control of a Zoo building scheme, similar to other "tycoon" games on the market. The original game had many animals and features, and allowed you to solve problem scenarios and create you own free form Zoo. However, I thought the original Zoo Tycoon had rather limited selections for the money.
In the first expansion pack, Zoo Tycoon Dinosaur Digs, they went a little way to solving the limitations by giving you Dinosaurs to create your own version of "Jurassic Park". It also added (finally!) some themed concessions to make your Dino park even more of a time travelling adventure. But, it too was fairly expensive for an expansion.
In the second expansion pack, Zoo Tycoon Marine Mania, "Sea World" type attractions were added, along with some new theming concessions and other things that went a long way to solving the problems of the original limits of the game.
For a long while, some other additions were only available online. Several Endangered animals and some weird ones like Yeti and the Loch Ness Monster took quite a bit of download time to add to your park creation capabilities.
But now, in Zoo Tycoon Complete Collection, we have a truly complete collection. Not only is the original Zoo Tycoon included, but the Dinosaur Digs expansion, the Marine Mania expansion, =and= all of the previously only available by download material.
The added feature of being able to see a few facts about your animals in a special window could make this game an educational experience. Making sure your animals have the proper terrain teaches that animals prefer the environment they originally lived in, and may help reinforce people's thoughts to preserving the few endangered animals that are in the wild.
I'm almost a Tycoon game addict, I love this package. I've played this so much I can see it in my sleep. I really enjoyed the effort the company made to include the previously downloadable only material. The four sections of the game crate a truly complete collection, just as advertised.
When considering Christmas presents for children, or a special treat for tycoon game loving adults, I find myself telling people about Zoo Tycoon Complete Collection, where I never did while it was all available in separate parts. Former fans of Zoo Tycoon will enjoy the fact that everything's included. New players will enjoy the easy scenarios, while experienced Tycooners will have the real tough problem scenarios they love. Highly recommended.

I think it is a good game but as it is now you can not finish the game until they come up with a fix for the fields & meadows not opening up. I wrote to valusoft about it & this is the response I got:
Dear Paws and Claws Pet Vet Customer,
Thank you for your recent communication. We are looking into this issue
and have contacted the developer. We hope to have a resolution soon.
Thank you for your patience.
Regards,
Tech Support
I see people have been having this problem since June, you would think they would have came out with a patch or something by now. I would recommend that everyone who has this game write to valusoft & keep writing, maybe if enough people bother them about this they will come up with a fix.
