Spelling Accelerator Review

Spelling Accelerator

I love this product! It works especially well since I home educate. You just type in your list words for the week and the program designs the games and tests around the words YOU choose. My 2nd grader loves it and thinks spelling is much more fun now. I would definitely recommend this product.

I LOVE SPELLING Review

I LOVE SPELLING

I do not think that the product lives up to expectations. There is not much room for personalizing and it lacks creativity in the way the product teaches. I think with a bit more 'elbow grease' and thinking, this product could have been amazing.
More cons:
It does not allow you to enter your own words nor does it allow you to modify any of the word groups given.
Some word groups are disjointed and have no set pattern. Bought this product today and am thinking of returning.

More Mudpies to Magnets: Science for Young Children Review

More Mudpies to Magnets: Science for Young Children

This book and the original Mudpies to Magnets are my best choices for simple, one-page science activities. These science books and experiments were clearly written with the parent or teacher in mind. Although the books contain a wealth of knowledge and experiments, none of the material is overwhelming for the adult participant. The experiments themselves require only inexpensive, household materials. And each of the experiments that we have tried are fun. One caveat: Ignore the age rankings as a wide variety of children (up to age 10) can enjoy all the experiments in these books...from The Science Spiders(TM) Newsletter.

Everybody Has a Body: Science from Head to Toe Review

Everybody Has a Body: Science from Head to Toe

I bought this book on the recommendation of the well-trained mind for PreK/K. I was disappointed, even though I had looked at the table of contents before I bought it. I had forgotten to look at a sample of the actual lessons. I was hoping for a lot more active activities for the senses that would be PreK oriented and easy for a homeschooling mom. This book isn't that. Slow and Steady Get Me Ready really covers all the things this book does--in a much easier way for me to do with my kids.

Mudpies to Magnets: A Preschool Science Curriculum Review

Mudpies to Magnets: A Preschool Science Curriculum

I just checked out Mudpies to Magnets and More Mudpies to Magnets from our local library. I have heard so many wonderful comments about these books, but wanted to see for myself before purchasing them. They are great! I'm definitely buying them for our home. We will be homeschooling our daugther for kindergarten next year, and these books touch on all the subjects I want to cover - weather, magnetism, geology, plants, human body and senses, and much more. Directions are very clear, experiments and activities are easy to do. This is more than just a book of science experiments - activities utilizing arts and crafts, movement, and language skills are also included throughout. These activities are also very easily adaptable up through early elementary age. Highly recommend these books!

Romulus And Remus Level 2 Ready-To-Read (Ready to Read , Level 2) Review

Romulus And Remus Level 2 Ready-To-Read (Ready to Read , Level 2)

My two and a half year old son loves this book. We took it out of the library and read it over and over, so I am buying us our own copy. He is fascinated by the she-wolf, and loves to recognize the word ROME when Romulus names the city. I teach high school Latin, so I love clear beginner books about myth and history that I can share with my son. This book is written in 2-3 page chapters, and is appealing pictorially to my young son but would be a great addition to a family library with kids through 7 years old or so.
