The other reviewer dogged this game horribly.
I would be the first to admit that this game has many shortcomings, exspecially from a standard pc gamer point of view. The graphics are not Half-Life 2, thats for sure. One thing I noticed after i started playing though is that the game automaticlly set the graphics level to 2. You can check this in the options only before you start playing. I upped the setting to 10 and suddenly saw some nice shadow effects as well as specular maps. For those of you who don't know, specular maps make things look shiny. I recommend everyone adjust this setting before you start playing the game, unless you have a crappy system.
I have no problem with the pc controls. I can't imagine them being better with the current combat system.
The hand to hand combat in this game does seem simplified. There are button combos in this game to learn that will allow you to pull of some cool moves. I am becoming more intregued by the combat system as I play and learn how to pull of cool moves.
It is easy to tell that the guns in the game where not meant to be as flashy as the hand to hand combat. My major complaint with the guns is that while you have a good target reticule, you shoot from third person. This is ok but its not ok that when you shoot at eye level the Neo character model completely blocks your view of what is in front of you. So you wont know if you are hitting anything or not. You can always move to the side though.
You really have to spend more than 30 minutes with the game if you want more out of it. It is too bad that it didn't take advantage of all the pc has to offer, but at least we have a pc version.

The Matrix: Path of Neo will follow the story of the blockbuster motion picture trilogy The Matrix, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions and for the first time allow gamers to play as Neo and become "the One."

From the moment the game begins, how the situations play out, how they handle them, how they deal with the events, where they go, how people react to them -- it's all up to the gamer. They may win where Neo failed or find another way to solve the problem -- the path is now theirs to follow.

As Neo, the choices the player makes to resolve each scenario and the resulting consequences may have a different result than the original films. Alternative scenarios filled with new characters, content and storylines have all been written and planned by the Wachowski Brothers to expand the Matrix universe and overall gaming experience.

Once again blurring the lines between Hollywood and interactive entertainment, The Matrix: Path of Neo features the likenesses of all of the films' key actors -- including Keanu Reeves (Neo), Laurence Fishburne (Morpheus), Carrie-Ann Moss (Trinity), Hugo Weaving (Agent Smith) and Jada Pinkett-Smith (Niobe).

I would of given it 10 stars but, I guess that wasnt an option. This game redefines the whole "shooter" genre. Who else besides me is getting sick of the game that tests how fast you can click, rather how fast you can think? Well, I am and this game rocks the boat! I am not talking about the demo. The demo is like playing on the "paint" program compared to the full game. I used to love Half-Life, and still do! But, to play Hitman, oh my GOD, its as if Im in heaven! The graphics are so incredible, I got lost in the game. The plants move as you walk into them; the fishtanks break; you can even see yourself in the shadows, strangling a chef! Its great! However, there IS a drawback: the graphics are so incredible, if you dont have a suitable graphics card, a part might be messed up.The gameplay and lasting appeal is also great! There are numerous GIGANTIC missions that will keep you on as long as you can keep your eyes from falling out. The levels are different in their own ways and are very nice. WAIT! YOU MUST HAVE 128mb RAM! You can play with 64mb ram, but I warned you, It WILL go slow when you get into some serious gunfights. It will go sooo slow that you will be thinking that you are watching a picture show. I found out the hard way but it is such a good game that I spent $50 to get another 64mb. These are good requirements...
128mb RAM, 500 mhz, good graphics card, good sound card
the rest you should know about. This game is great. DONT forget the pluses! The minuses can be a big part of some action, but if you have the above requirements, get this game. If you dont buy this game, I will personally have a talk with the 47 himself. HAVE FUN! Oh! One last thing, this game can go both ways, you better be able to think. DO NOT load the game thinking its a gorefest run-of-the-mill shooter! You must THINK! THINK! THINK! THINK! DONT GET BOGGED DOWN BY THE THIRD LEVEL EITHER! Thats a tough one, but if you get that one, you will pretty much know what they expect.BUY! BUY! BUY THIS GAME!

Stranglehold Review

There are a number of great FPS and TPS coming out this season (CRYSIS, CALL OF DUTY 4 and UNREAL TOURNAMENT 3 - just to name a few). Advanced graphics, new weapons, excellent gameplay, new ideas...all true. However, NONE HAS HALF THE STYLE OF STRANGLEHOLD!
This game is getting the bum wrap all over - for reasons unfathomable. From gaming magazines (I guess they have to rate some games badly to balance out giving the likes of BIOSHOCK full marks...) to gaming sites, the reviews STRANGLEHOLD gets seem to be written by people that have not played the game more than 20 minutes.
Sure, this is a game that takes up almost 13GB of your HDD and it yet runs for about 9-10 hours. Sure, if sports checkpoints (a cheap trick of game developers to artificially augment the game's length by having us replaying the same segments over and over). That is where it looses the 5th star. But the game IS FUN!
When was the last time that you had REAL FUN with a shooter? Dive-shoot in the rain, dodge bullets while sliding on table-tops or cat-walk up a stairs balustrade and pick out the bad guys one by one...And you get to do all these IN STYLE! Yes, this is the best TPS since MAX PAYNE!
Remember the movie THE REPLACEMENT KILLERS? Well, this is the game equivalent - and it is GREAT!
RECOMMENDED!
