(More customer reviews)Classic stories expertly told. I had this book as a child, took it with me to every babysitting gig I ever landed, and now I read the worn copy to my own two children. Each story is simply illustrated, true to the original tale, and told in the most perfect language. It's not poetic, but it has the terse exactness of poetry. I can't imagine adding or replacing a single word of text. Quite honestly, this is THE best book of fables/folktales anywhere. It is just a shame it is no longer in print. Buy a copy while you can! It just might last you several lifetimes.
