i did this recently in windows, after having completed the "last sanctuary" for mac. my like for the last sanctuary caused me to purchase the resurrection. what i found is that the resurrection is very short and easy. i would normally give a poor rating for this except that the graphics were wonderful, the story engaging, and the atmosphere outstanding. for example, the game opens in eastern europe on a freezing night. the fields and farm buildings convey the chilling surroundings perfectly (incongruously, the pond is not frozen). despite its easiness, there were a couple of difficult places; i spent 2 days pixel hunting for one item in draculas castle, but it turned out to be large and in plain sight. dracula 2 takes the good aspects and adds a lot of length and difficulty.
i think that dracula 1 would be better as part of the second game rather than a separate game in itself.

If you liked the first one, you'll probably like this one and if you hated it, you will most definately hate this one. I personally love these first person adventure games. The goal is to basically advance the storyline by solving puzzles and collecting items that must be used in various ways such as unlocking doors, killing enemies, etc. It is no gory killing spree, or terror fest like Silent Hill or Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem. It is purely atomospheric and if that is not your cup of tea I suggest avoiding this game and others like it. The only big difference between the gameplay of this one and the first is that you can actually die in this one. My advice is to save frequently and most definately do so as soon as the timer bar with the receding red appears. Anyway, the story picks up where the first left off (in fact the opening cut scene is the finale of the first game). This game is slightly longer than the first and like the first can be divided into two parts: London and Transylvania. In London you must travel by sewer around to different buildings to collect items that will allow you to find Dracula's hiding place there. In Transylvania you must sneak back into Castle Dracula and make your way to the Sanctuary. Once there you must solve challenges in three initiation rooms and you will then be able to enter Dracula's Last Sanctuary and defeat him. All of the chilling, gothic settings are beautifully rendered and like the last one the only short-comings are the cheesy animated cut scenes. The computer graphics are rather cheap so the characters move rather robotic. The voice acting is also poor. But these are not really that important to the gameplay. The real fun comes from advancing through all the creepy strongholds and underground passageways till you reach your destination.

I am adding to my review. I emailed Dreamcatcher Games about problems with older games not working on the XP. I was sent back dirctions which, at least for Dracula Resurrection, work!
1. Insert game into CDROM drive
2. Click Start, and then My Computer
3. Right-click on the CD-ROM drive and select OPEN
4. Locate the Install file (usually named Setup.exe or Install.exe. Right click on it. Select Properties.
5. In Properties window, click on the Compatibility tab.
6. Place a checkmark within the section labeled Compatibility mode, and select Windows 98/Windows ME from the drop-down list.
7. Click the Apply button and then click the OK button.
8. Double-click the install file to begin the game.
It worked for me!
My original review, from 2006:
I had both of these games on my old computer, and loved them. The graphics are outdated, but there are lots of genuinely spooky parts and I liked the puzzles. However, when we switched to an XP computer, "Dracula Resurrection" would load but it wouldn't work. So I bought this double set of the two games and reloaded them onto the XP. Again, "Dracula Resurrection" won't work on XP, even though the package says it does. (Dracula: The Last Sanctuary" works fine.)
