This is a nice CD, and one of my 2 year old's favorites. Little Bear's 'just because' party is a cute idea, and it is filled with interesting games. The coloring module alone is worth the price - it is very well designed, and there are quite a few nice scenes that your child can color on.
However, the navigation is a bit wonky, and Little Bear can get rather bossy and annoying as he constantly reminds you that you're not doing something in the right order. The opening screen, where you select which person you are, is difficult even for me to figure out. This is made worse by the fact that Little Bear has a rather annoying voice.
My biggest complaint is that the PC version allows you to spawn multiple copies at the same time. My daughter gets impatient and keeps clicking on the "start" icon, and can get 5-10 copies all running with the audio slightly out of sync. It takes some time to enter and quit each instance.
And yet, my daughter adores this CD, and repeatedly asks for it. It keeps her happy and out of trouble. So, I recommend it despite its high parent annoyance coefficient. (The music is pretty, but repetitive and annoying if you're trying to do something else nearby.) So buy it, but I would suggest buying some of the "Living Books" series first, like Grandma & Me or the Dr. Seuss titles.

Left Behind Eternal Forces CD-ROM Review

I would like to appologize on behalf of the Christian and Gamer community for this pitiful excuse for a game. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but that was actually the nicest wording I could muster. My husband is a game developer, and I happen to enjoy console and PC games immensely. We both also consider Jesus to be our Lord, Savior, and friend. So naturally, we were curious over the idea of merging spiritual concepts and Biblical principles with gaming enjoyment.
The opening video gave us some hope that this apparent stategy-based game could show promise. That hope was, I'm sad to say, repeatedly bludgeoned to death before being dragged through poorly defined and highly pixilated streets. But nevermind the graphics. Our biggest issue with the game was its content, which came off rather immediently as judgemental, legalistic, abrasive, condemning, and last but not least...hokey. Go find eight friends to invite to church? Come on now, people. Kids listening to generic rock music bring down your 'spirit' to the point of character apathy? I guess in that case, my husband and I would be considered the 'bad guys' in this particularly narrow and sheltered version of reality.
Bad joke or no, the only effect we could imagine a game like this having on someone who doesn't have some vaguely accurate concept of Christianity would be to further aggrivate the intollerant and unrelatable stereotype, whilst generating further repulsion and misunderstanding. If I happened to be someone on a mission to make Christianity and even the Left Behind series look pathetic, this would be one of the first pieces of media in my arsenal. As my mission is something quite the opposite, I ask that if you havn't played this game, please don't bother. And if you have, please see it as a parody and find it in your heart to forgive.
