This book along with the author's another book titled 'Back Off, Cool Down, Try Again' is an excellent resource meant for teachers who have to deal with disruptive, defiant, hostile students. By reading this book, one can gain an understanding of how to defuse undesirable behaviors and structure face saving alternatives.
Through a series of vignettes provided in this book, teachers can gain insight into problem behaviors and explore effective management strategies. The author has provided many tips for setting limits, arranging the classroom for safety, dealing with parents and structuring face-saving alternatives to avoid escalating and potentially violent behaviors. The author has also provided variety of sample forms. I feel it is a valuable resource for both general and special education teachers.

I had to read this for a class, but it's still a great book! It's up there next to Harry Wongs "The First Days of School." Harry will get you through your first year, this book will help you understand WHY children behave the way they do and how we can adjust our own thinking to help them behave appropriately.
