Snap 4,000 Fonts Review

4000 fonts? well, counting both truetype and postscript versions, so really 2000, then take out the extended, condensed, outline, and other versions of the same fonts and you are left with about 800 different fonts, now that includes an oblique version of almost every font, which I leave in because it's a little difficult to make them on the fly. Many of them have regular, bold, bold oblique, oblique families, and THE VARIANTS ARE NAMED RIGHT, so they are easy to weed out. The fonts themselves are smooth where they should be, and appear well constructed. I cannot speak about the font manager software because I'm on a Macintosh, and so cannot run it, but the fonts are well worth the money.

Wedding Fonts Review

Wedding Fonts
Average Reviews:

I was very disappointed in this software package, which aims to convince the consumer that he or she will be able to choose from an extensive variety of fonts for their wedding invitations/programs/etc. I bought this software because I was searching for a difficult-to-find font, which I had been unable to locate on the internet for free. Nowhere on the box does it say how many fonts come in the software, and SummitSoft is apparently banking on their false impression, because I counted only 56 fonts added to my list of fonts in Microsoft Word. Now, I don't know about you, but when I think of a software program dedicated to *only* fonts I think of that program providing perhaps a few hundred fonts, not a few tens of fonts... the back of the box allows you to preview what the company calls "just a few" of the fonts included in the package, which turn out to be about half of the total! If you are searching for fonts for your wedding stationary, I suggest one of the free font databases online, where you have access to thousands of fonts (not everyone is as picky as I am)!

The majority of these fonts look like they are hand printed by a 6 year old. Very few useful fonts. A lot of them are very similar in appearance. May be useful for Greeting cards, but most greeting card programs usually come with a decent collection of fonts anyway.
I purchased this for possible use with video work and was disappointed.

Macware MacFonts Review

Macware MacFonts
Average Reviews:

MacFonts basically collects a bunch of freeware fonts on CD and gives you a printed guide. There is also a PDF guide on the CD that you can grab. The software covers the same ground as FontBook, so I didn't explore it much. The CD has a wide variety of fonts, but they're mostly the same ones that you can pull off free font websites. All of them loaded without a glitch. The majority are display fonts, but it also has a handful of serif and sans serif fonts, scripts, dingbats and a bunch of black letter and unical fonts. Nothing on this disk is as well-crafted or fussed over as the fonts you can buy from a type house. However, for less than the price of most professional fonts, MacFonts gives you an instant collection of more fonts than you'll actually use.

Clipart&more 3.5 Million Clipart Fonts Photos & More Review

Clipartandmore 3.5 Million Clipart Fonts Photos and More
Average Reviews:

This product is misleading. There aren't 3.5M images, fonts, photos, etc. not even close. It's a lure to get you to sign up for 1 year of their online service. The disc that comes in the box has a few hundred images on it at best.
The word "includes" means that it's in addition to, as in the disc had 3.5 million images, fonts, etc. Don't buy this product if you think you are getting 3.5 million files on a disc. You are really paying for 1 year of their online service. I expected better from IMSI. In the past their clip art collections were great. Now they settle for duplicitous practices to lure people into giving them repetative income.

Pleasure: The Architecture and Design of Rockwell Group Review

Pleasure: The Architecture and Design of Rockwell Group

rockwell's kodak theater is an embarrassment, a frilly forum for the lowest common denominator to celebrate its shallowness. what could be tackier than the entrance hallway with the ruby kitsch staircase? america's great theater age peaked in the radio city music hall. here is grand design linked to a vision both reasoned and romantic.the kodak theater-- if remembered at all-- will be seen as a monument to america dumbing down.
for those who've seen it only on tv: it looks a lot worse in the "flesh."on the plus side: it has lots of flashy technology and has good sight lines.

On the Trail of Space Pirates Review

On the Trail of Space Pirates
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Tom Corbett Space Cadet, originally a radio show, in the mid 'fifties broke out into eight books. They were hardback books aimed at adolescents, and like The Hardy Boys, Tom Swift and Nancy Drew books, were probably written by a syndicate of various writers writing under the name Carey Rockwell. They show more consistency than do the Tom Swift books, however, so they may have all been by one author. The books were packed with illustrations by Louis Glanzman, and invited on the back cover: "Calling all boys and girls to Mercury, Venus, Jupiter and all points in outer space. You too can be a part of the group of daring adventurers from the Space Academy who travel to mysterious lands in outer space on dangerous and exciting missions. It's a simple as opening a book... if the book is Tom Corbett, Space Cadet."
These books must be out of copyright, judging from the many paperback editions now available. Given that the hardbacks, with their full color jackets, are collector's items, this is a way to read the stories without tracking down the hardbacks. This edition has a color space- themed cover, not too many errors, and is reasonably priced. The print is easy to read even though the original 212 page hardback is here formatted as a larger, 136 page paperback. In my view, this edition is superior to those in which the publishers didn't even try to design a space- themed cover, instead simply opting for a pattern.
The stories in this series are very adventurous, and the characters heroic. They center around three cadets in Space Academy, Tom Corbett, Astro, and Roger, and their adventures in the Solar Guard. Even the bad guys don't cuss, and the good guys good- naturedly call one another names like "Venusian monkey," always in keeping with the outer space theme. The hardbacks carry an ad for the Rick Brant Science- Adventure Stories, which managed to be just as exciting while remaining earthbound. All of which testifies to the great writing from the 'fifties in these books, which will delight young (and older) readers of today. To quote the back jacket of the hardbacks, "Don't miss these thrill- packed books."

This, the third book in the Tom Corbett series by "Carey Rockwell" (whoever he was in real life) -- is, like all of the Tom Corbett books, something special. It's another tale of the three young men who serve in the Solar Guard as Space Cadets. And this tale of the cadets' adventures is a story you've got to love, too. We mean, Space Pirates! Space Pirates! How cool can you get? There's an Energy Lock Formula that allows the Space Pirates (shiver me space-timbers, matey!) to rob spaceships at will. The Polaris crew must go underground to find the stolen formula. . . !Neat stuff! Read it now!

This book provides a valuable guide to the business reader of the importance of the internet to the future of business. I also liked the guidance on international trade for starting businesses. Rockwell Kent: The Art of the Bookplate Review

Rockwell Kent: The Art of the Bookplate
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Splendidly enhanced with 173 illustrations of classic bookplates, Rockwell Kent: The Art Of The Bookplate compiled and written by Don Roberts authoritatively examines the commissioned bookplates of Rockwell Kent and meticulously details the stories behind their creation. A most remarkable and absorbing artbook reflecting the dual love of the written word and the crafted picture, Rockwell Kent is commended to the attention of bibliophiles and art historians.

Click Here to see more reviews about: Rockwell Kent: The Art of the Bookplate

The 175 bookplates that Rockwell Kent designed over the span of a half century are a hidden facet of his graphic arts career. Kent stands alone among twentieth-century American artists; he was not only a prolific painter, author and illustrator, but also an adventurer and political reformer. Until now, the extent and significance of his bookplate art were largely unknown. After all, a bookplate is intended to disappear inside the cover of a book. But as Don Roberts makes so engagingly clear, each tiny work represents the passion for books that Kent shared with his clients. What emerges in this beautiful volume is more than a chronicle of one aspect of Kent's work. It is the story of communion between artist and client, woven within the saga of Rockwell Kent's life and times. Sidebars and 173 black-and-white illustrations help illuminate the text. A foreword by Kent authority Will Ross ponders Kent's rise to unprecedented fame and his subsequent fall from favor. Appendixes include two of Kent's essays on the subject as well as a master list of his bookplates.

I adored this book as a child, and loved reading it to my kids again. The language is simple and easy for kids to understand, and the joke has stood the test of time. It's also a neat slice of history for modern kids who have no idea what it would've been like to have a traveling sales man stop by.
Awesome book, still a fun read after all these years.

And that's the book you get. (well, which I got). So. Yeah.

A brief introduction to American Government, this text has three main advantages over other books in this market:innovative and flexible teacher tools; novel chapter progression and adaptable topics; and creative resources for students. The text opens with a discussion of the media first, then follows the themes of competition and compromise throughout.By delving first into the media, the text draws students into a discussion of government as they experience it on an everyday basis.Once the students' interests are piqued, the more traditional topics of the constitution and institutions of government are covered. The competition and compromise theme reflects the authors' approach: how the Madisonian system is played out in every institution of government and in every political process. Now packaged with PowerWeb, a dynamic course-specific rather than book-specific supplement that engages your students in three levels of resource materials and provides a true avenue to extending learning about a subject, American Government is a necessity in any American Government course.

No No No Review

Anne Rockwell usually turns out nice work, but I was disappointed in "No! No! No!" Although the text displays her usual empathy with young children--it's all about a little boy's really, really bad day and what his mom does to help make things better--the illustrations are most disappointing. The colors are strong and cheerful, but the composition and overall artistic expertise shown via these pictures is really just flat-out bad. They are not crude and charming in the way that some children's books pictures can be--that is, in the way that a technically proficient artist will show his or her ability to illustrate well while still maintaining a childlike quality to the work. No, these are just below-average pictures. It's too bad, because the text really works very well.
